PIPE & STEEL FITTING

A pipe fitter is a tradesperson who installs, maintains, and repairs mechanical piping systems. They work on a variety of piping systems, including: Heating and cooling systems, High-pressure transport systems, Oil and chemical systems, and Natural gas systems. 
Pipe fitters typically start as apprentices or helpers. They perform a variety of tasks, including: 
  • Planning jobs based on engineering designs 
  • Making or modifying parts in a workshop 
  • Assembling components for installation 
  • Installing and joining pipework using welding and bolting methods 
  • Performing routine inspections and maintenance 
  • Finding and fixing faults 
  • Removing old pipework and fittings safely 
  • Reading design specifications to cut and weld pipes 
  • Laying pipework

Pipe fitters mainly work in manufacturing settings, but can also be found at commercial sites like apartment buildings.
