ELECTRICIAN

An electrician installs, maintains, and repairs electrical systems in buildings and structures. They work in homes, businesses, factories, and public spaces. 
Here are some of the responsibilities of an electrician:
  • Installation: Install wiring, fixtures, and equipment 
  • Maintenance: Maintain electrical systems to avoid power outages 
  • Repair: Repair or replace wiring, equipment, or fixtures 
  • Testing: Test electrical systems to ensure proper installation and operation 
  • Inspection: Inspect electrical components to determine whether repairs are needed 
  • Compliance: Ensure safety compliance and follow state and local building regulations 
  • Training: Direct and train workers to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring or equipment 
Electricians need to have a good understanding of mathematics, physics, and algebra. They also need to be able to use hand and power tools, and be able to lift up to fifty pounds to eye level.
